TRAVEL GRANTS AWARDED TO 6 MONTEREY COUNTY PARKINSON'S COMMUNITY MEMBERS
EMPOWERING VOICES! "SOARING TO THE WORLD PARKINSON CONGRESS"
The World Parkinson Congress (WPC) is a unique triennial international forum where researchers, clinicians, people with Parkinson’s and care partners come together to share knowledge, foster collaboration and advance the global conversation around Parkinson’s disease. For many in our community, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn, connect and bring valuable insights back home. Monterey Bay Power Over Parkinson’s recently hosted a special fundraising event dedicated to providing travel grants for local applicants to attend the WPC. Travel grants were awarded to six local individuals to support their attendance to this seminal international event scheduled for May 24 - 27, 2026. Recipients include individuals living with Parkinson's disease, care partners and clinicians committed to Parkinson's care and support.
PICKLEBALL FOR PARKINSON'S RAISES FUNDS TO AWARD TRAVEL GRANTS TO THE 2026 WORLD PARKINSON CONGRESS
Power Over Parkinson’s would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported the Pickleball for Parkinson’s Social Tournament that took place on July 19, at MPC. Whether you were a player, volunteer, donated food, beverages or raffle prizes - your participation enabled us to raise nearly $15,000, which will help provide scholarships to send local people with PD to the 2026 World Parkinson Congress. The WPC is a triennial event, bringing together researchers, clinicians, people living with Parkinson’s disease and care partners in one inclusive forum. We are immensely grateful for this amazing community support for our organization, helping us realize our goal of improving the lives of local people on the Parkinson’s journey.
Congressman Jimmy Panetta Visits POP
Power Over Parkinson’s invited Congressman Panetta to the POP Studio to observe a class demonstration and also to thank him for support of the recently passed Parkinson’s disease Congressional Bill. Now known as the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act, the bill requires the Department of Health & Human Services to address Parkinson’s disease to guide efforts to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure PD.
The Congressman even put on the gloves and tried his hand at the speed and heavy bags!
